Having suffered with my sinuses for as long as I can remember, and having tried everything, including surgery, I was desperate.
I have COPD, and this is certainly helping — less coughing, lungs feel clearer. And the sinuses, much clearer too.
Bought this for my daughter who is suffering from a bad episode of asthma and this has really helped.
Coastal air, without the four-hour drive.
Salt therapy has been used for generations to support breathing and calm irritated skin. SaltAyre brings it into the room you already sleep in.
Easier breathing
A natural antihistamine
Calmer airways
Naturally antibacterial
Better sleep
Calmer skin

You are not looking for steam.
SaltAyre breaks Scottish sea salt into particles fine enough to stay airborne and travel where you breathe. A thicker, heavier mist would look more impressive and do considerably less — it would settle on the table within a foot of the device. The faint haze above the shade is the whole point.
Salt dissolves
SaltAyre flakes dissolve into the water chamber.
The disc vibrates
A ceramic disc vibrates at ultrasonic frequency, shearing the brine into a micro-fine aerosol.
The salt stays airborne
Particles disperse into the room and stay suspended in the air you breathe.
Most of what you are paying for is the salt.
Hand-harvested on the East Neuk
Ultrasonic, never heated
Three months of salt in the box
One year, and a person to email

About the height of a large mug.
Small enough for a bedside table, quiet enough to leave there. It is a personal device for the air around you — not a whole-house humidifier.
Three steps, about a minute.
Fill to the line
Add one measure of salt
Press MIST, pick a timer

Set it for three hours and forget it.
Most people run SaltAyre for the first stretch of the night and let the timer take care of the rest. It makes a low ultrasonic hum — about the level of a fridge in the next room — and an occasional soft drip as the chamber empties.
Put it on something hard
A bedside table or shelf rather than fabric. A hard surface stops the hum resonating.
Bedside, or wherever you settle
It is not limited to a metre from your pillow — it works just as well on a side table while you read or watch television. We suggest bedside because it is easier, and better for children as they sleep: as you sleep your airways relax and you breathe more deeply.
Use the timer
Three hours suits most people. Never run it more than eight — the 6H setting keeps you the right side of that without thinking about it.
Give it a fortnight before you judge it.
Salt therapy is cumulative. Here is the pattern most people describe.
Mornings first
Sinuses follow
Judge it now
Thirty nights, then decide.
Salt therapy takes a few weeks to show. It would be unfair to sell it on that basis and then give you a fortnight.

The eight things people ask.
How much salt and water do I use?
200 ml of water to roughly 1 g of salt — one scoop, which comes in the box. Dissolve it in the mixing jar first, then pour it into the chamber up to the fill line.
Does it need to be plugged in?
Yes. It runs from a USB-C cable into the mains and is not battery powered or rechargeable. We would rather tell you now than have you find out on the doorstep.
How loud is it?
A low ultrasonic hum — roughly a fridge in the next room — plus an occasional soft drip. Placing it on a hard surface rather than fabric keeps it quieter.
How big is it?
14 cm tall, 10 cm across and 176 g — about the height of a large mug, and light enough to move from room to room. It is a personal device for the air around you, not a whole-house humidifier.
Can I run it all night?
Run it up to eight hours, not beyond. The 6H timer switches it off for you. Most people set three hours as they fall asleep.
Why is the mist so fine?
Because that is what makes it work. A heavier, more visible mist would settle on the table within a foot of the device instead of staying in the air you breathe.
How long until I notice anything?
Most people notice their mornings first, within the first week or two. Sinuses tend to follow in weeks two and three. Give it a month of nightly use before you judge it.
What if it stops working?
It carries a one-year warranty. Email the UK team and we will repair or replace it. If it arrives faulty or damaged, tell us within 30 days and we cover it entirely.
